9/11 Unified the World

As we look back at the ten years since 9/11, I'm more confident than ever that the last decade ushered in the Unification of the Unies.

The attacks on the World Trade center began as a shock, sadness and tragedy like we've never seen before. Our country was scared and glued to the events on that day. The entire world witnessed and followed the events after that day. New reports, eye witness videos, stories began to spread across the nation. (Remember, this is all before the social media revolution. Can you imagine if it happened today? We would have so much more photos and videos from the people who lost their lives that day.)

In addition, it was technology that helped save the White House as Flight 93 headed to our Capitol. The phones and conversations between the passengers and their families encouraged these brave souls to protect our country from even more disaster and heart ache. If it wasn't for cell phones we would have been even disaster. Bless their souls.

We don't have a name for the past decade. People have mentioned millions of different names for these past ten years. Most of the names for the decade were sad. I am to believe that the past ten years between 2000 to 2009 was about unification. I remember that these 10 years created a world that was more interested in sharing their stories and documenting their lives for other to see.

The last decade should forever be remembered as the Unies, Twenty-Unies, 20-00s, and 2000s. The term was created in 1999 before that decade began. As I look back on the years between 2000 and 2009 is the best 10 years of our history. We have so many more memories of people coming together than the sadness that was created from the lost of lives.

Like the 9/11 memorial, beauty will help us more forward and recover from the lost of the Twin Towers. The 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 reminds us that we can come together. We see differing religions come together to display our new found respect for differences in beliefs.

Let's remember the last 10 years with a positive thought and call the last 10 years the Unies. The next decade should be called the Decies.
